Sr. API Back-end FastAPI Developer - Kansas City, MO Area - Hybrid Remote

Title: Back End Fast API Engineer
Location: MUST be Located in Kansas City, MO area for 1 ½ day a week in the office – but it’s 100% Remote besides that ½ day.
Terms:  Direct Hire / Perm
Salary: 160-180K and equity opportunities

Experience Level: 3-5 Yrs.
Status: Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Companies Tech Stack: Deep Web2/Web3, dApps, NFTs, Smart Contracts, Strong API background (pref FastAPI), AWS Services, Twilio, TypeScript, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5, CSS3, React.JS, Next.JS, Bootstrap for mobile first responsive websites, Databases are Postgres, MySQL, NoSQL, Mongo a plus. Backend programming experience with Python and Node.

Our client is a Web2 to Web3 platform that simplifies and accelerates the path to experiences by linking a phone, wallets, and activations. Leveraging existing infrastructures and user behaviors opens the world of Web2 into Web3 to everyone without having to educate anyone. Our client's Platform provides a brilliantly simple way for Companies to onboard Consumers into digital wallets linked to the Consumers’ mobile phone number.  The Consumer's phone number can be linked to one or more of the Consumer's digital wallets that hold the Consumers digital assets/non-fungible tokens (“NFTs”). The platform provides an API to request information based on a unique id related to the Consumers phone number to perform actions such as checking to see if a Consumer has a specific NFT for token-gating and related services.

The company has secured $2.5MM+ in funding and is seeking passionate builders looking to solve today’s challenges with tomorrow’s technology.

POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced API back-end developer to join our growing company with a focus on Python or Node. You will be tasked with building, scaling and enhancing our API and backend components that will run in AWS.

As a senior developer, you will work as part of a team to implement new features, as well as make modifications and fix bugs in existing code. Your duties will include designing and developing layouts, writing code to power the underlying functionality, and developing tests for the code you write.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MIGHT INCLUDE: 
  • Architect and implement API software solutions to fulfill project requirements.
  • Create, design, and implement APIs, preferably using FastAPI and/or Flask and/or Django. 
  • API Development: Designing, developing, and testing APIs for mobile and web applications by understanding technical specification docs & communicating with the stakeholders.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining database designs for data storage and processing (MySQL, NoSQL, Mongo)
  • Maintain code written by other developers, including bug fixes.
  • Work as a team to document API and keep it updated.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field or the equivalent of 3-5 years of experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of API programming languages, such as Python, JavaScript, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with FastAPI and/or Flask and/or Django
  • Excellent knowledge of one or more back-end programming languages (for example, PHP, Python, jQuery, C#)
  • Basics of MySQL and NoSQL, and PostgreSQL databases
  • Experience building back-ends from scratch is helpful.
  • Familiarity with common programming design patterns and best practices
  • Experience with common web development tools and services, such as version control software and API management tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

  • Interested in OAuth, WebAuthn big pluses.
  • The ultimate pragmatist, not trying to reinvent the wheel.  Investigate if there’s a quicker, faster 3rd party tool that saves time and money.
  • Thinks first, Codes second.
  • If they happen to have full stack with some React, TypeScript, Postgres, and design ideas, that’s a plus but not critical.
