Ruby on Rails Developer - Perm / Remote

Job Title: Ruby on Rails Developer
Location: Mission, KS  (100% Remote)
Terms:  Full Time / Direct-Hire
Salary: Commensurate with 3 Years of Ruby/Rails Programming
Areas of Expertise: Ruby, Rails, PostgreSQL, AWS, S3, Elastic Search, Git, Rspec, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, REST, API's

Looking for a Ruby on Rails developer with at least 3+ years of development experience.  Our client uses AWS and S3 to store files, would prefer experience with RestAPI development (creating or using).  Additional experience with Postgres and Elastic Search preferred.
Our client is a SaaS company providing web-based real estate appraisal software and database products that accelerate the commercial real estate appraisal process and provide appraisers with a platform for career and business success.  They offer unlimited vacation and a causal work environment.   

  • Write clean, maintainable and efficient code
  • Design robust, scalable and secure features
  • Contribute in all phases of the SDLC
  • Follow company design and development best practices
  • At least 3+ years of experience as a Ruby on Rails web application developer
  • Solid understanding of MVC, ORM (ActiveRecord), and REST APIs
  • Experience using front-end technologies (JavaScript, HTML/CSS, JQuery, JSON)
  • Experience using relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (Git)
  • Experience following design best practices
  • Knowledge of resource-based routing
  • Knowledge of SDLC best practices
  • Knowledge of unit testing frameworks such as RSpec
The Client's Technical Environment:
  • MVC / ORM (ActiveRecords) - model / mapping patterns
  • They use AWS and S3 to store files
  • They use API’s to FEMA flood maps, google maps and census data
  • REST API development, creating or using
  • Postgres / MySQL
  • Front End - HTML/CSS, JQuery, JSON
  • Elastic Search
  • Host on Heroku
  • PDF Report Writing (WKHTMLTOPDF)
  • GIT for version control
  • RSpec for Testing
Non-Technical Requirements
  • Self-starter, able to work with minimal direction
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to cross the technical/business line
  • Strong time-management skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment
  • Passion for writing great, simple, clean, efficient code
  • Ability to give direction and willingness to accept direction
